Explanation of Degrees

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

A program where students pursue an associate (2-year) or bachelor’s (4-year) degree at a college or university.  This program leads to a graduate program. 

GRADUATE PROGRAM

A program leading to a master’s degree, doctoral degree or advanced certificate; after obtaining a bachelor’s degree. 

ASSOCIATE DEGREE

Undergraduate students satisfying college or university studies as a full-time or part-time student for two-years are granted the associate’s degree as completion of the program.  Associate degree’s can later credited towards obtaining a 4-year degree called a Bachelor’s Degree. 

BACHELOR’S DEGREE

A degree received after the satisfactory completion of a four or five year study at a college or university. View your specific college/university to see what types of Bachelor’s Degrees are offered. 

MASTER’S DEGREE

A master’s degree is designed to provide students additional education or training in a specialized branch of knowledge, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
