Alisa Johnson,
Chair

Alisa Johnson is the director of graduate recruiting at The University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas. She has been with UT Arlington since April 1997. Prior to her current appointment, she was director of graduate services in the College of Business at Arlington. Ms. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public administration.

Amb. Tibor P. Nagy, Jr.,
Chair-Elect

Ambassador Nagy has been Vice Provost for International Affairs at Texas Tech University since 2003. Previously he was “Diplomat in Residence” at the University of Oklahoma, after postings as US Ambassador to Ethiopia and Guinea. He also served as Deputy Ambassador in Nigeria, Cameroon, and Togo after assignments in Zambia, Seychelles, and Washington DC. Ambassador Nagy arrived in the US as a political refugee from Hungary, and received his B.A. from Texas Tech and M.S.A. from George Washington. His US State Department awards include commendations for helping prevent famine in Ethiopia; supporting the evacuation of Americans from Sierra Leone during combat; helping end the Ethio-Eritrean War, and managing the US Embassy in Lagos Nigeria under extraordinarily difficult conditions. He was selected as the runner-up for “Deputy Chief of Mission of the Year” in 1995, and knighted by the President of Guinea in 1999.

Marie Warden,
Treasurer

Marie Warden is the Sr. Program Coordinator for UT - IC² Institute’s Global Commercialization Group. Mrs. Warden, a native Austinite, holds a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University. Prior to rejoining IC2, Marie was operations manager for Triton Ventures, LLC an Austin, Texas-based venture capital fund specializing in high technology spin-off companies and other promising startups. Previous to Triton, Marie was the first Director of Marketing for IC² Institute at The University of Texas at Austin; Mrs. Warden was associated with IC² Institute for over nine years. She directed the marketing activities of all the programs that IC² sponsors.

Daniel Thomae,
Secretary

Daniel Thomae oversees international student recruitment for DallasBaptist University. Raised in Kenya and Nigeria, Daniel moved to the United States in 2002 to pursue a bachelor’s degree. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from DBU, he worked for Four Seasons Resort and Club in Irving, TX. In 2008, he returned to DBU to pursue a Master of Arts in Global Leadership and began serving in his current position at the university.

Michael Morrison,
Past Chair

Michael Morrison holds a B.A. in Psychology with High Honors and a J.D.from the University of Oklahoma where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa,the Order of the Coif, and chosen as the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Outstanding Law Student. He currently serves as the Director of International Education at Baylor University where he has received the Outstanding Professor Award and holds both Baylor University’s Jo Murphy Chair of International Education and Baylor Law School’s William J. Boswell Chair of Law.

Marta Martin,

At-large Member

Marta (Montenegro) Martin, originally from El Salvador, C.A., graduated from LeTourneau University, Texas before finishing her legal studies at Baylor University School of Law, Texas.  She practiced law in Houston, Texas for five years before beginning her work in non-profit administration.  Marta currently serves as Director of LeTourneau University’s Office of International Studies.  Marta is married and has a daughter. 

Steven Edmond,
At-large Member

Steven Edmond is the Dean of the School of Business and Technology at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. He holds the doctorate in International Business and has more than two decades of teaching and administrative experience at the college/university level. Mr. Edmond was a Visiting Professor of International Business at Monterrey Tech in Mexico City, Mexico for almost two years. He also was the recipient of the Exxon Mobil International Faculty Development Fellowship. This fellowship enabled Mr. Edmond to attend a series of global-themed seminars in Budapest, Hungary and Prague, Czech Republic. In addition, Mr. Edmond was the Training Coordinator for a “Train the Trainer” workshop in Monrovia, Liberia.

Parul Fernandes,
At-large Member


Parul Fernandes was a professor of English at Ness Wadia College, Pune, India and at various universities in the US. In the field of international development she has served as a Country Director in the South pacific and executed projects for UNICEF, USAID, Canada Fund and Australia Fund. Her skills in management were also utilized by the State Department of Transportation in the project for safety for 7 years. As director of the Office of International Studies and Programs, she is responsible for study abroad programs at the University of Houston. In addition she administers scholarships and is responsible in developing partnerships with foreign universities, strategic planning, policies and procedures and operations.

Saleha Suleman,
At-large Member

Saleha Suleman holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has served as the director of international student and scholar services at several U.S. institutions. She also served as a chair and faculty member in women’s studies and a faculty member in the school of communication at universities in Minnesota and Florida. She currently serves as the Assistant Vice Provost of International Education at the University of North Texas (UNT), where she is extensively involved in internationalization projects. She oversees international recruitment, international admissions, immigration advising, and study abroad units at UNT. 

Greg Thompson,
Advisor


Greg Thompson is a Senior International Trade Specialist at the North Texas U.S. Export Assistance Center - an office of the U.S. Department of Commerce in Dallas, Texas. He has been with the North Texas office since August 1998. Prior to that appointment, he was Senior Import Compliance Specialist with the Department in Washington, D.C. Mr. Thompson obtained his MBA in International Marketing from American University in Washington, D.C. in 1992. His undergraduate work in finance, accounting, and economics was completed at the University of Kentucky.
